My favorite movie score is Pirates of the Carribean: At World's End. It uses a nice variety of instrument sets (e.g. Singapore vs. Multiple Jacks vs. Parlay), and the instrument set used for each scene is location and situation-based. Also, the score builds upon one or two different motifs throughout the entire score (Hoist the Colours and Davy Jones's music box), adapting a motif to fit a particular situation or instrument set (Hoist the Colours is adapted for choir, then some stringed instrument, then flute in The Brethren Court). Hans Zimmer put it together very well.

I think I might have just fainted! Seriously, I was just about to post that I am a diehard fan of "Up is Down" from that movie! Hans Zimmer didn't just put everything together well, he is a pure genius! Every score he has ever written has turned out to be quite splendid.

I think my favorite track is "Multiple Jacks", because of the instrument selection. "Up is Down" and "The Brethren Court" tie for a close second.
