*****Spoilers for the Vampire Academy books!!!*****
Alright, any other Vampire Academy fans out there? Well, if you're reading this you are either a fan or couldn't care less and just want to read this thread *waves to Morey*.
So the fourth book, Blood Promise is coming out in just a few months, and I can't wait! I started out reading this series thinking it was predictable (and I'll admit I only started because my friend Axel made me) and soon realized that it was the complete opposite!
Et em. Now, for those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about, I shall elaborate briefly (which is totally an oxymoron, but I don't really care).
So this isn't a typical vampire novel. I know they all say that, but this one is actually true! First of all, there are three different species of "vampire".
Moroi: The mortal "vampires". They are 100% vampire, and can possess one of the five elements-earth, wind, fire, and water. The last element, spirit, is extremely rare (only three users are mentioned in the entire series) , and totally kick-oh wait. The royal families all are from Moroi descent. The elements were always used to help the earth, but now they are beginning to be used as weapons (oh yeah!)
Strigoi: The immortal "vampires". A Strigoi is either a Moroi or Dhampir who has been transformed into one willingly (by draining someone of all their blood on purpose) or forcefully. They are extremely strong and grow even stronger when they kill the Moroi. They pretty much become monsters, and not even shadows of their past selves.
Dhampir: The mortal half and half species. They guard the Moroi, and are referred to as Guardians. The Dhampirs can only be born when a Dhampir and a Moroi get together, or when a Moroi gets it on with a human. For some strange reason, Dhampirs can't have kids together. They cannot control any elements.
So I'm going to skip summaries and characters. Pretty much, one of the reasons I think these books rock is because the main character, Rose, has a boyfriend (Dimitri) who is Russian! Rose is a Dhampir, and has a strange mental connection with her best friend, a Moroi princess (since she is the last of her line, and there are technically thirteen or eleven or some number I can't remember of lines) named Lissa (a spirit user).
Now of course they couldn't just kill Rose's fellow Guardian Dimitri could they? Noooo, they had to have him forcefully turned Strigoi, and now she is off on a mission to kill him. Woot for plot twists and depressing moments!!!
